Thank you for visiting my website! I am Billy Janes, a multi-disciplined designer based in Los Angeles, California. My design approach is evidence-based and user-focused, with a strong emphasis on meeting user needs. While I am originally from Altadena, California, I moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2015 to pursue my passion for songwriting. After having two beautiful boys, my wife and I made the decision to move back to California to be closer to family.

My design approach is grounded in innovation, and I work to meet the objectives of business owners and stakeholders while keeping the user at the center of the design process. In addition to my design work,  I also enjoy mentoring and passing on the knowledge and valuable experience I have gained over the years to my fellow peers and helping them grow in their careers.

I initially began my career in print and packaging design, but after a year, I realized my true passion was in digital design. I spent the next two years as a Web Designer at Threshold Interactive, a prominent ad agency in Los Angeles. For the next 7 plus years, I led the design effort as well as managed the Web & Product Design team at Cracked.com, a top entertainment and humor site that became the most visited comedy site in the U.S. and the #1 humor network during my tenure ( according to Comscore ). Cracked also earned five Webby awards and became the #1 mobile traffic site among all humor sites in the U.S.

My most recent endeavor has been a purpose driven role as a Senior UX Product Design Lead at HCA Healthcare, one of the top healthcare companies in the U.S. While based in Nashville, Tennessee, I had the opportunity to work on some of their most significant initiatives, leading the UX design process for a range of consumer and patient-facing products. In every project, my focus remained on creating purpose-driven designs that have a positive impact on people's lives.

When I'm not designing, I love spending time with my family, strumming my guitars, listening to music, going to the beach, and jogging in the beautiful hills around my home.
